The first sketches of Phương Trầu were born from hazy dreams and memories—strange evenings spent beside a flickering lamp, following the tale of “day after day…” told by a grandmother whose mind had gradually drifted into an illusory world.
And Khiết Nương, the silken maiden of that dreamscape, stepped into the moonlight, carrying an enchanting beauty into the unfinished visions of Phương Trầu.
The name Khiết Nương evokes a graceful young woman arriving in spring. ĐÍNH ĐANG happened to discover the legend of Nguyễn Phi Ỷ Lan, also known as Khiết Nương—a Tằm maiden from the ancient land of Kinh Bắc. Through her virtues and enlightened conduct, she was revered for generations. The name carries the connotations of purity, radiance, and serenity, while also expressing ĐÍNH ĐANG’s vision of an ideal feminine form.
To portray this imaginative beauty, ĐÍNH ĐANG uses delicate sheer fabric in a pure white tone, as translucent as mist, bringing Khiết Nương’s dreamlike quality into the present. The design is also the opening look of the Phương Trầu Collection.
Hidden beneath the gathered layers of fabric, a mirror rests in the palm of her hand, reflecting clusters of birds and phoenix-tail areca blossoms, delicately embroidered as if recounting a destined encounter.
Still retaining the signature free-flowing silhouette of ĐÍNH ĐANG, the dress features a softly gathered corset that embraces the tall, slender figure with an air of elegance, beauty, and mystery. Khiết Nương became one of the most cherished designs at the Móng Hoàng Khuê launch event.
The traditional colours associated with the philosophy of the Five Elements—a defining feature of ĐÍNH ĐANG—appear once again alongside Khiết Nương. The contrasting colour palette seems intense and unpredictable, yet it follows the quiet and natural transitions of an Á Đông woman.
This time, Khiết Nương wears the traditional colours more naturally. Rather than creating a dramatic contrast, the shades blend smoothly into everyday life. There is no ruler, ornament, or comb arranged within the flowing dark hair; instead, it is the dreamlike Thơ skirt, paired with folds of golden-brown fabric that seem to rise in the wind at the end of autumn.
From the earliest days of working with ĐÍNH ĐANG, Khiết Nương was never intended to be merely a dress for display. She was naturally envisioned as a new silhouette—one that feels close, familiar, and deeply connected to the emotions of the wearer.
Developed from simple and refined lines, Khiết Nương reveals a different spirit and character within each story. This is also what ĐÍNH ĐANG seeks to express through the language of silk, carefully embroidering a story of its own.
